How To Grow

In pots or trays of seed raising mix in a sunny but sheltered position.Sow seed 5mm (1/4in) deep, firm down gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 7-21 days. Transfer to final growing position when sturdy enough, spacing plants 50cm (20in) apart. Water and fertilise regularly. Harvest: 12-14 weeks from sowing when husks turn brown.

Cape Gooseberry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 10 gooseberries, peeled
  • 2 bananas, peeled and chopped
  • 200ml plain yoghurt
  • 50ml milk
  • 50ml apple juice
  • 50ml vanilla frozen yoghurt or ice cream
  • Sugar or stevia to taste

Instructions

  1. Add all the smoothie ingredients together and blend to a smooth, thick and creamy consistency.
  2. Pour into two glasses and serve chilled.
