Introduced to American gardeners in 1826 this heirloom variety has thick, crinkled, bright green leaves rich in antioxidants and vitamins. More tolerant of heat and cold than most other varieties, and is resistant to bolting.

Sow in seed trays filled with quality seed raising mix or direct in growing position. Sow seeds 12mm (½in) deep in rows 30cm apart. Firm down and keep moist. Pick regularly and the plant will continue to produce for several weeks.
