Sow California Wonder capsicum seeds 6mm (1/4in) deep in a seed tray or punnet filled with seed-raising mix or compost. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out and transplant them into 12cm (4in) pots.
Once plants reach about 15cm (6in) tall, plant them in their final position, spacing them 50cm (20in) apart. Prepare the soil beforehand by incorporating organic matter and a balanced fertiliser to give your plants the best start. Harvest after 2-3 months when they are full-sized and glossy; earlier for green peppers and later for red peppers. Capsicums make good companion plants for tomatoes as well as flowering plants like geraniums and petunias.
