Snake Bean

Botanical name: Vigna unguiculata

A great favourite for warm and tropical areas. It produces big crops of long, rounded pods which are stringless and delicious to eat. Best picked when young and tender.

We hope you enjoy these bean seeds, just another great example of vegetable seeds from Mr Fothergill’s!

Plant Height: 2-3m

How To Grow

Sow 12mm (1/4”) deep in dark damp soil and 10-15cm (4-6”) apart. Germination is slightly slower than other beans and plants can remain fairly small until hot weather arrives. Remove weeds regularly and water well during dry periods.

Easy to sow in most cultivated soils and needs a sunny position. Feed the soil with a general fertiliser shortly before sowing. Snake Beans should be grown on a fence or trellis. Seedlings emerge 10-21 days.

Harvest regularly to prolong yields.
